Envirothon
Pickens Soil and Water Conservation District annually sponsors a High School team to compete at the South Carolina Envirothon, a hands-on outdoor competition on aquatics, forestry, soils, wildlife, and a current environmental issue. Registration deadlines are usually in January for that year's May competition. This year's competition is on Saturday, May 3, 2013, at the Sandhills facilty in Columbia, SC. The winning team of this state competition gets to go to the national competition.
If you are a teacher interested in coaching a team, please contact our office for more details. There is a FREE one day coaches' training on Saturday, February 2, 2013, at the Sandhills Facility in Columbia, SC. At this training, the coaches are given all of the topics, along with detailed instructions on which the students will be tested. The coaches are given written materials, contact names for help/clarification, and details posted on the web in order to help you along as you train your team.
